Our Training Locations

Hailsham Swimming Club are based out of Bede's School Sports Centre, located on the grounds of Bede's Senior School in the village of Upper Dicker just west of Hailsham. Bede's School Sports Centre offers excellent facilities for both swimming and land based training. The high standard of the facilities also allows Hailsham Swimming Club to host licensed open meets, such as our Club Championships, our Annual Mike Pashler Invitational Meet, and Sussex Swimming League Galas.

The main facilities at Bede's School Sports Centre include

  • A six lane, 25m pool with anti-wave lane ropes, backstroke flags, and competition standard diving blocks with track start adjustable footrests. We also have adjustable backstroke starting wedges available to use. 
  • Separate changing facilities.
  • Spectator gallery in the pool area.
  • Multi-purpose sports hall. 
  • Fully equipped gym including cardio equipment and free weights area. 
  • Other dry workout facilities.
  • A large car park, free to use for members.

Directions to reach us

By car

Travelling from the north: From the A22 The Dicker, turn onto either Camberlot Road or Coldharbour Road and follow until you reach Upper Dicker. Once in front of the main Bede's entrance building turn left onto Michelham Priory Road, before turning left again into the Bede's School car park adjacent to Bede's School Sports Centre. 

Travelling from the east: From A22 Hailsham Bypass, turn onto Arlington Road West, following onto Michelham Priory Road until you reach Upper Dicker. Turn right into the Bede's School car park adjacent to Bede's School Sports Centre. 

Travelling from the west: At the Drusillas Roundabout on the A27 Lewes Road, take the north exit onto Station Road. Continue following the road until you reach Upper Dicker. Turn right onto Michelham Priory Road, before turning left into the Bede's School car park adjacent to Bede's School Sports Centre. 

Bede's School has a large car park adjacent to the sports centre which is free to use. The What3Words location of Bede's School Sports Centre is devalued.flocking.glad.

By public transport 

Bede's School Sports Centre is challenging to reach by public transport due to its rural location. It is therefore recommended that Hailsham Swimming Club members drive or use car-sharing to reach training sessions. 

The closest train station is Berwick, located 2.7 miles from Bede's School Sports Centre. 

Our other training locations

Hailsham Swimming Club also trains at other swimming pools in the area as part of the weekly training timetable. These are as follows:

Freedom Leisure Hailsham, Vicarage Lane, HAILSHAM, BN27 1BA. Our Monday evening training sessions are currently held here, unless otherwise stated. 

Ringmer Swimming Pool, Lewes Road, RINGMER, BN8 5RB. Our Wednesday evening training sessions are currently held here, unless otherwise stated. 

Alternative training locations

During periods of closure at our main training facilities, Hailsham Swimming Club may make use of other local swimming pools. Sessions in these locations will be communicated ahead of time.

Hailsham Swimming Club also run occasional long course (50m) training sessions. These are subject to invitation and are held at the following locations:
