How to volunteer to help your swimmer

Gail Chilton

As you will likely be aware we need to have officials who help at galas, or we cannot run any!

So this communication is mainly aimed at Bronze Squad and above (who attend more Swim England licensed meets), but is also relevant to those younger swimmers who will be moving into competition squads.

The guidance on the club website (homepage under tab ‘Volunteers’) has been updated, so for full details see there.

SUMMARY OF ROLES/REQUIREMENTS

1. Officials - At the moment we require a certain number of judges (officials) and we always need more trainee officials.  Please contact me if you are willing.  It is not at all onerous!  Remember our senior Club Champs (silver squad and above) are run at Alleyns, so no spectators.  So it’s a great way to see all the action up close!  We also must take officials with us as a Club to help at external meets.  So basically, we need you.

2. Non-technical We also have non-technical roles we need to fill for club champs (results and marshalling and finish judge).  This requires a simple Swim England membership that the Club does.  Super easy to help.  Sign up on the event tabs for each gala.

3. Now team managers are also required. These are now mandatory – there are 2 levels and the training is simple and on-line.  Again, it is not an onerous task and can be shared - the more volunteers we have, the easier for all.  Tricia (in charge of welfare at the Club) is contactable at [email protected]

Contact me – [email protected] if you are able to help or require any further information.

Many thanks,
