West District Short Course Championships – WE1

It was a fantastic weekend of racing at Tollcross for our 11 West District swimmers who were competing against the best swimmers in the West of Scotland in their respective age groups. All of the 14 & unders were competing on the Saturday with the 15 & overs competing the following day. We had nine athletes racing on day 1. They were Kimberley Cameron, Rachel Cameron, Madison Gourlay, Liam Hendry, Mia Loudon, Hannah McMillan, Adam Northcote, Mirren Stewart and Molly Tulloch. We then had two athletes racing on the Sunday, Daniel Convery and Cameron Hamill.

Over the course of the weekend, every single swimmer achieved at least one new personal best time with 72% of our 36 races resulting in personal bests across the 2 days. This is a super return and shows the hard work that our athletes have been putting in to their training.

Some of the highlights include three of our girls going under 1.20 on the 100m backstroke for the first time, Rachel and Hannah in the lanes beside one another pushing each other on to faster times in the 200m breaststroke, standout performances from our 2 Age Group squad swimmers at the meet, Adam and Liam who finished just outside the medal places and Daniel and Cameron continuing to push each other on to faster times on their 50m freestyle.
