First open gala of the year
Kent Weald Swim Sqauds 7th Last Chance County Qualifier
The KWSS Last Chance County Qualifier, held in Gillingham on Saturday and Sunday, 3rd–4th January, was another outstanding weekend for the club, culminating in an impressive medal tally of 12 gold, 24 silver, and 17 bronze. Gold medals were claimed by Aaron, Andrew, Caelan, Cari, Ciar, James, and Lucas—an incredible achievement!
As the final opportunity to secure Kent County Championship qualifying times, the meet saw numerous swimmers achieve new or improved consideration and automatic times, keeping them firmly in the running ahead of the selection process.
The event also showcased the fantastic team spirit that defines our club. A highlight was James’ 200m Individual Medley, where teammates lined the poolside to cheer him on, creating an electric atmosphere and demonstrating the support and camaraderie that underpin our values.
With all qualifying galas now complete, entries for the Kent County Championships at the London Aquatics Centre will be submitted early next week following final administration. A huge thank you goes to coaches Kirsten and Mirelle, along with all officials and team managers, for their dedication and support throughout a busy and successful weekend.
