CMK Open Meet - Ryan reflects on massive gain

Ryan Currell

Bletchley & District Swimming Club took home its first hoard of medals in the Codebreakers’ first Major Open Meet on Sunday 24th September.

“It’s amazing,” said Headcoach Ryan on the competition. “Just think how many more medals we could have gained if Meet Organisers hadn’t of ‘slimmed down’ the meet.”

“This expectation of more medals and Personal Bests was coming, I think a lot of people could see it. The performances have been there regardless.

"That Meet on Sunday showed what we were doing every week in training, focusing on technique and increasing endurance work, making sure that our swimmers pushed hard against the competition.

“We know what we are capable of as club, everyone knows that. Everyone can talk about us but all you have to see is that performance out there today. The hosts, CMK is not an easy club to race against so for us to come home with medals and a lot of Personal Bests today was brilliant.”

We have the Harpenden Swimming Club Open Meet next weekend, followed by the Flitwick Dolphins Open Meet, and right now, we are accepting entries and have advertised the Team Luton Open Meet on 10th December – We really want everyone to enter it before the 23:00 7th October. deadline.
