On Saturday 26th March 2024, the Codebreakers smashed their competition, ending the evening of Round 2 at the Chiltern League finishing 1st. The 2nd round took place at Aqua Vale Sports Centre, Aylesbury with the team ready for what was going to be an entertaining event for all. It means the team will be in the Final on Saturday 20th April held at Tiddenfoot Leisure Centre, Leighton Buzzard. Keep your eyes peeled.

With Head coach Ryan enlisting the Team, and Team Managers Jo, Sally, and Dustin in control of marshalling the team, the team was set and ready.

Club Captain Orla swum the first race of the night. Recovering from a setback illness last week, she pulled it off, giving us the vital points we needed. Junior swimmer Ellie’s gave us a constant performance, bringing home 1st and 2nd places for the team. With her achievement and sportsmanship, she was awarded Swimmer of the Gala! Bringing back our Jayden from last season’s Chiltern League proved his worth for the team, giving us good leads in the relay events especially. Senior Squad swimmer Madeliene produced strong butterfly stroke legs in the Individual Medley Relays when we needed it most. Cameron swam again for this round but hung on, in first round he swum the 25 metres freestyle relay leg in 20 seconds, but in this second round, he did it in 17 seconds. Where did these knocked off 3 seconds come from?! – Great work!

Called up to help substitute one of our swimmers who fell to an illness, Charlie ensured the team finished first in the boy’s relay events. Cora proved her fast pace, dominating the pool in her Relay events especially. Louie gave the team a perfect 1st place finish in the 50m Freestyle. George gave good results and surprised us with a ‘Too Fast’ time in the 50m Backstroke event – confirming a PB is very much around the corner.

Zofia swam her first ever 50m Butterfly race – a great effort, with more still to come! Markus stepped in to swim the backstroke races with solid finishes. Senior swimmer, and Swimmer of the Gala from Round 1, Alice fought hard and provided the backbone for the relay team producing nothing but 1st and 2nd place results! Our two Masters swimmers Rob and Darren, once again, showed us how it’s done. They perfected their pace and technique to come first in all their events – as much as 0.07s from the ‘Too Fast’ capped times – Perfect.

Jemima, being asked to swim the first leg in her relay events proved a good decision, ensuring the team was first from the ‘off’. Madison, available for this second round, came in with her fighting nature helping the team in the Freestyle. Boy’s Club Captain Beau stepped up to swim the 50m Breaststroke, which proved to be a ‘stroke of luck’, finishing with a time of 41.52, 0.02 seconds within the 41.50 ‘Too Fast’ time - wow! Seyram back from last season with the addition of his brother Selasi on his debut provided great results in both the relays and individual events. So, watch out – the Awusu brothers are about! Finally, Owen, returning to swimming his Freestyle legs – made us all stand up as he caught and overtook our rival clubs in the last legs in the relay events, all within 50 metres! Yes – we really did stand up!

From the very start, the team were in 1st place, in the middle the team was in 1stplace, and at the end of the event the team finished in 1st place.
