County Champs - 2nd weekend
The second weekend of the Middlesex Counties was no less exciting than the first for the Teddington swimmers.
The distance training has clearly been very effective with two further medals in the 800m free – Billy B winning a silver and Phoebe C winning bronze. There were also some excellent fourth place swims from Tommy E, Thomas P, Bella M and Sarah P in this event.
The super fly swimmers picked up four medals too with Club Captain Thalia winning silver in the 200 fly, Holly WL taking bronze and Jack K picking up silvers in both the 100 and 200 fly!
Sam H won a silver in the 50 backstroke whilst Rhea won a bronze and Thalia silver in the 400 medley.
Last but not least, brothers Eli and Isaac both won a medal in the 200 Breaststroke, with a bronze for Isaac and silver for Eli.
The overall points scored were 363, which placed the club in 9th place out of the 20 clubs competing, with many of them considerably larger than ours!
Any swimmer finishing in the top 10 contributed to these points, with some notable individual scores from some of our team; Isaac Z and Arthur G each picked up 30 points for their races, with Billy B on 26 points, Jack K on 20 points, Phoebe C on 45 points, Rhea and Thalia P on 23 points apiece and Holly W L on 20 points.
But we have a strong team ethos and every swimmer should be incredibly proud of themselves, whether they picked up a medal, reached the top ten, achieved a personal best or raced in a 50m pool for the very first time. County qualification times are tough and anyone reaching these championships will have worked hard to get there.
Thank you to all coaches who train the swimmers week in week out and also to the Open Meets team who worked tirelessly to make sure all entries were accepted.
