AWARDS & TROPHIES

With a long and distinguished history, the club has been able to establish a large collection of trophies which are competed for at the two annual club championships.

In addition to these championship trophies the club also awards a number of discretionary honours:

LORD DE BLAQUIERE CHALLENGE VASE

Lord de Blaquiere was the first Club President and held the office from 1899 to 1920. This trophy was presented from 1928 to the 1970s to the winner of the official handicapped race (i.e. the deliberate delayed starting of swimmers in an event due to their ability). From the 1970s to the present day the trophy has been presented for outstanding success. The trophy is presented at the annual Presentation Night to a club member who has achieved outstanding success in the pool or has served BDSC to an exceptional standard in a supporting role.

Nominations for this award can be made by any club member in writing to the Club Secretary by August 31st for discussion by the management committee at its meeting in September.
