Head of Swimming
Since taking over at Marlins, Stu has overseen significant growth - doubling the size of the club and introducing Development, Fitness, and Performance squads, as well as a growing Masters squad.
Coaching highlights at BSM Marlins include:
- Consistent qualification of swimmers for National championships across the world
- Annual representation at the British Nationals since 2017
- Recent National medal winners: Thomas Dean (gold and bronze, English Summer Nationals 2024), Mohamed Hazaa (5 x medals at The Egyptian Championships in 2024), Rihards Kagis (Latvian National Junior Champion 2025), Nitishsai Harinath (Indian National Champion 50m freestyle 2025).
- Marlins alumni representing their countries internationally, including Anahira McCutcheon (2024 Paris Olympics) and Henry Baker (European Junior Championships, Team GB)
Stu is also an accomplished swimmer, having competed at a National level in the 100m and 200m freestyle since 2007.
His coaching ethos is simple: "Every swimmer, no matter how fast or able, deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential in the pool."
Swim School Coordinator & Instructor
Jamie is an ASA Level 2 swim teacher and a qualified RLSS Trainer Assessor, bringing over a decade of teaching experience to the BSM Swim School.
- Competing for Great Britain in elite triathlon
- Serving as a reserve athlete for Wales at the 2022 Commonwealth Games
Swim School Instructor
Lorgez is a certified ASCA Level 2 swimming coach. He has 7 years of experience as a swimming coach within Learn To Swim, stroke development and coaching. He has experience working with a number of swimming frameworks, including The Michael Phelps Training Academy, The ASCA, The American red Cross, STA, and Swim England. Lorgez has a great passion for swimming and his ethos is to “share a Fun, and safe, education in Swimming”.
