Parents Guide

The Coolmine Handbook has created to help you feel confident and informed as part of our swimming community. As a club, we strive to provide a positive, safe and supportive environment where every swimmer can learn, develop and enjoy the sport. Parents play an important role in that experience.

We ask that parents encourage swimmers to attend training regularly, arrive on time, listen to their coaches and show respect to teammates and officials. Positive support from the sidelines and at home makes a huge difference to both confidence and progress. We also ask that communication with coaches, volunteers and committee members is polite and constructive — we are all working together for the benefit of the swimmers.

Person on Duty (POD)

Each training session must have a Person on Duty to oversee the session in line with Swim Ireland's Supervision Policy. This ensures someone is on hand for any problem that might arise. In the absence of a Person on Duty, the associated training session will be cancelled.

The expection is that guardians of Sharks are present during the sessions, due to the younger age of their swimmers. A POD rota is in place for Dolphin, Development and Senior Squads. The rota is communicated monthly on the relevant Whatsapp groups. It is the responsibility of the POD to find a replacement if they cannot attend their allocated session.
