Volunteering

We are an organisation whose continued success is derived from contributions of parent volunteers who contribute their time and effort to support their children in their chosen sport. Parent volunteers are the lifeblood of our club.

Our most pressing need for help is our requirement for Swimming Technical Officials. In order to gain accreditation for meets and thereby enable our children to receive accredited times in the events in which they compete, the club must contribute technical officials to each session of a swimming gala.  The first step in becoming a technical official is attendance at a timekeeper’s workshop, where volunteers are instructed on the use of equipment and duties of a timekeeper, a session which lasts approximately 2 hours.  After completion of this workshop, volunteers are certified to work as a time keeper at a gala, which in addition to supporting your child also gives you a poolside view of your childs’ swim.  Arleen Tennant, the Senior Technical Official Convenor, is the point of contact for enrolment in a timekeeper’s workshop.

Other continual needs for assistance include Marshalling of swimmers during the gala, organising the swimmers into their assigned heats prior to sending them to the blocks for their race, as well as the distribution of Medals and Trophies at competitions, which is overseen by our Trophy and Medal Convenor.

The club also seeks assistance in the Computer Management of swimming galas, which takes place in the Omega room poolside during each gala.

We always have a need for volunteers on our Fundraising and Social Convening Committee and with the ordering and organisation of Club Clothing and Equipment.

A complete list of the Clubs’ Executive Committee and Management Committee is displayed in the display case on the balcony in the Tryst.  Please contact the appropriate committee member for any assistance or clarification, or to offer your services as a Volunteer! Thank you in advance for your efforts in support of your young swimmer!!
