Cerebral Palsy National Championships 2024
The Cerebral Palsy Sport National Swimming Championships 2024 were held at Alfreton Leisure Centre last weekend, and was a fantastic event attended by swimmers from all over the country.
Swimmers aged 10 years/over are eligible to compete if they have a diagnosis of non-progressive brain damage with motor control dysfunction such as cerebral palsy, traumatic brain inuury, stroke or similar conditions. Swimming is such a brilliant sport for anyone with these conditions, giving them a chance to strengthen their muscles and improve their fitness, as well as the social and mental benefits that swimming brings - as all those of us involved in our sport know only too well.
Congratulations to everyone who competed, and did such a great job!
Derby Excel's chair Babs Ingram was one of the officials, as was Ann Basford whose daughter Jennifer organised the event.
Thank you to all those involved.
