Junior League Success for Young Derby Excel Swimmers

Well done to all our swimmers who participated in the Derbys/Notts Junior Swim League at Hucknall. We finished in third place, with some great racing on the night. 

Here is a report from coach David Pratt: 

Hello, here's a quick report on the Diddy League round 1 of 3, held on Saturday, 20th April.

First off, I want to congratulate and thank all the swimmers who took part. It was a joy to see the enthusiasm and excitement on the faces of several first-time racers. Overall, we finished in third place with 14 first-place finishes, 9 seconds, 4 thirds, 3 fourths, 1 fifth, and 4 sixths. However, we did have six disqualifications, three of which were first places. Every competition presents learning opportunities, and we need to focus on getting the basics right.

I was thrilled to see some of our swimmers demonstrate excellent underwater skills and with smooth breakouts. It was really exciting to hear the young swimmers shout, "Wow!" as one swimmer surfaced ahead of everyone else after a streamlined start to about 13 metres. It was a beautiful demonstration of how you should do it.

All through the event, there was plenty of cheering and support from the swimmers and parents. The parents were even described as 'the rowdy lot' - keep up the good work. Excellent team support from everyone! Thank you.
