Derby Excel Swimmers compete at E Mids Regional Short Course Championships 2024

Thirty five of our swimmers headed to Harvey Haddon Leisure Centre in Nottingham last weekend to take part in the 2024 East Midlands Regional Short Course Championships. Swimmers from all over the region took part, including around a dozen Olympians from the Loughborough Performance Centre.

Our swimmers had a very successful meet, and it was great for them to race against such high quality opposition - even though it meant medals were harder to come by! 

Dylan Jamieson (16) started off on Friday night with a gold medal in 16/under 800m freestyle in a time of 8:38.89. He also won bronze in 50m backstroke (27.33s) and 400m freestyle, was 5^th in 100m backstroke and 6^th in 200m freestyle. Congratulations Dylan on these excellent performances. 

Georgie Pryor won gold in her favourite event, the 100m butterfly in a time of 58.75, with Olympic swimmer Repton’s Eva Okaro in second. Georgie also won the 50m backstroke in 28.18s, a silver in 50m butterfly (26.70s), and bronze in 100m backstroke (1:00.94). Huge congratulations G! 

Anna Tyers (16) won gold in 16/under 100m backstroke (1:02.33) and 50m butterfly (28.14s), a silver in 100m freestyle (57.19s), and bronze in 200m freestyle – well done Anna.

Other individual medallists were: 

Jaden Leo (15) - silver in 16/u 100m breaststroke (1:04.66), silver in 50m breaststroke (29.67s), and 5^th in 50m butterfly.

George Whittle (18) - silver in 100m backstroke (56. 33s), and 4^th in 50m backstroke in 26.30s. 

Tom Trueman (20) bronze in 100m freestyle in 50.32s

We also won a team gold medal in the female 4 x 100m medley relay –  well done to Anna Tyers, Imogen Clark, Georgie Pryor and Marija Romanovskaja. Our B team were 5^th in the same event (Charlotte Hall, Connie Bunhejee, Miley Aram, Eleanor Bevan).

We won a bronze in the female 4 x 100m freestyle (Marija, Georgie, Anna and Yanet)

Jacob Pemberton (15) 4^th in 200m backstroke (2:10.72), 5^th in 100m individual medley, 6^th in 50m backstroke, and 8^th in 100m backstroke

Laurel Roberts-Burrell (17) 4^th in 100m butterfly (58.54s), 5^th in 50m backstroke (26.61s), 5^th in 100m backstroke, 8^th in 50m butterfly 

Roman Levchenko (16) 4^th in 100m butterfly (58.54s), 5^th in 50m butterfly, 7^th in 50m freestyle, 7^th in 100m freestyle

Miley Aram (15) 4^th in 50m butterfly (29.18s), 6^th in 100m butterfly (1:06.37s)

Millie King (16) 4^th in 50m backstroke (30.82s)

Charlotte Hall (22) 5^th in 50m backstroke

Marija Romanovskaja (18) 5^th in 50m freestyle (26.11s), 7^th in 100m freestyle (55.86s) with Olympians Eva Okaro, Abbie Wood, Freya Colbert and Medi Harris in the top 4 places. 

Ethan Lawton 6^th in 100m backstroke, 8^th in 50m breaststroke

Eleanor Bevan (18) 6^th in 100m individual medley 

Alex Harrand (19) 7^th in 200m freestyle, in a final featuring Olympic finalist Max Litchfield.

Seb Ebanks (17) 7^th in 200m backstroke, 12^th in 100m butterfly (the event was won by Olympian Joe Litchfield)

Yanet Fung (16) 8^th in 200m individual medley and 50m freestyle

Zachary Drayson (15) 10^th in 16/u 100m breaststroke

Isaac Ebanks (14), 11^th in 16/U 1500m freestyle, 16^th in 800m freestyle

Luke Chambers (15) 11^th in 16/u 100m breaststroke

Eden Saint (14) 12^th in 16/u 100m breaststroke

Jack Harris (15) 12^th in 800m freestyle

Lucas Kimber (15) - 12^th in 1500m freestyle, 15^th in 800m freestyle

Yanet Fung (16) 12^th in 400m freestyle

Luke Chambers (16) 16^th in 400m individual medley

Also very well done to Isla Johnson (13), who represented her pathway club Belper Marlin. She made the final of the 16/u 50m freestyle, finishing 6^th in 27.80s.
