Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Junior Swimming League - Round 1

Some of our younger swimmers competed on Saturday in the first round of the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Junior Swimming League (affectionately known as the Diddy League), held at Water Meadows in Mansfield. The next 2 rounds are in May and June.

Thank you for allowing your swimmers to participate; I hope everyone enjoyed the event. 

Finishing in second place is a fabulous achievement, especially considering that we had only one 9-year-old boy, which prevented us from competing in four events, along with two disqualifications. 

We had some strong wins, displaying an accomplished technique along with hard-fought placings. For example, in one race, swimmers approached the wall almost in a line; however, we executed a faster turn and a powerful push off the wall, surfacing a body length ahead, which we were able to maintain. This demonstrates the importance of gaining skill alongside swimming speed. 

Our team showed numerous skills, and many swimmers made significant improvements; thank you to everyone who contributed to this result. 

I would also like to thank Babs Ingram, Kate Woodhall, Keith Kelly, Lawrie Johnstone, Lisa McCormick, Lorna Buchan, Louise Lee, and Ralph Shepherd for volunteering. These events could not happen without your support.
