Derbyshire and Notts Junior Swimming League Round 2
Our younger swimmers competed at the Diddy League R2 last Saturday at Bramcote. We were up against Worksop, CABSC, Nottm Leander, Bramcote and Derby Phoenix.
Some feedback from coach David Pratt:
I hope you all enjoyed the Junior League Gala last Saturday! It was great to see the swimmers competing and getting to know each other as a team.
Unfortunately, we could not compete in four events due to having just one 9-year-old boy. However, I entered a team of three girls and one boy in the relays for their experience, and I notified the organisers that we were competing for no points.
Notably, we were faster in 68% of races than Round 1, which is fantastic—well done to everyone! However, despite being 1.75 seconds faster overall and 0.3 seconds quicker in relay splits, our average placing was fourth, one position behind our previous round. This highlights that although times are important, the art of one-off racing is still important. To improve, we need to focus on practising effectively during training, all the things that require no talent.
Thank you to all helpers/officials, because without you, none of this would have happened.
Let's keep up the great work. Thank you, everybody.
David
