Derby Excel host Last Chance Qualifier Meet

Derby Excel hosted another level 1 meet in the National Qualifying window on 10th/11th May. This one was at Moorways, and gave swimmers a final opportunity to post times in the events they hope to swim at British and English Nationals in at the end of July/early August. 

It was the first time we've held this meet, and there were swimmers there from over 110 clubs in all - which is very unusual as mostly meets have 15 or so large club entries, but this meet attracted many individuals who attended to chase times in a handful of events. So we had swimmers there from all over the country. We also had an unprecedented number of withdrawals as swimmers realised at the last minute they didn't need or want to compete after all! 

As there was no swim down pool, there was time factored into the sessions for a 20 minute swim down/warm up, which was greatly appreciated by the competitors. 

Thanks to everyone who helped deliver this meet - it was a really challenging one and a lot of work for our team of Kirsty Billinge, Rachel Male and Pippa Hibbs. Thank you to all the officials, volunteers and helpers.
