Derby Excel Swimmers Excel at DASA Short Course Competition
Derbyshire ASA held the first day of their new County Short Course Competition at our home pool of Moorways on Sunday. It continues next weekend (18th and 19th October). Only swimmers affiliated to Derbyshire clubs can take part, with entries coming from 17 clubs in the county.

As you can see, Derby Excel and the swimmers from Belper, Long Eaton and Derby Phoenix who train in our performance squads had a highly successful day. Our swimmers won many of the events or achieved top 3 placings, which is very encouraging for the rest of the season.

Tyler Shaw (14) had an excellent day, winning the first event, the 1500m, in a time of 17:57.68. He also won gold in the 400m individual medley, 200m individual medley and 100m breaststroke. Well done Tyler.
Rimero Jayawardena (11) won the 200m freestyle, and was second in 200m backstroke and 200m individual medley
Roman Levchenko (17) won the 200m freestyle and 200m individual medley
Dylan Jamieson (17) won the 17/19 age category in the 200m backstroke, and was second in 200m freestyle
Connor Furnish (12) (DX/Long Eaton) won every event he entered: 200m backstroke, 400m individual medley, 200m freestyle, 100m breaststroke and 200m individual medley. Great swimming Connor!
Jacob Pemberton (16) (DX/Belper Marlin) won the 200m backstroke in a time of 2:06.54, and also the 200m freestyle and 200m individual medley.
Finlay Bird (DX/Long Eaton) won the 15/u 1500m and was third in 200m freestyle.
Flynn Clark (15) (DX/Ripley) won the 200m freestyle and was second in 400m individual medley, and third in 100m breaststroke and 200m individual medley
Eden Saint (15) (DX/Belper Marlin) was the 200m freestyle and 100m breaststroke.
Alex Harrand (20) (DX/Long Eaton) won the 200m freestyle.
Jaden Leo (16)(DX/Belper Marlin) won the 100m breaststroke.
William Smith (12) was second in the 200m backstroke, 400m individual medley and 200m freestyle.
Isaac Ebanks in second place in the 1500m 15/under age group, and was also second in 200m freestyle and 200m individual medley
Max White (11) was second in 200m freestyle and 100m breaststroke
Jonah Hawksworth (12) was second in 200m individual medley, and third in 200m freestyle
Zack Hidle (16) was second in the 200m backstroke.
Arthur Flint (12) was second in 100m breaststroke
Maxim Bocharnikov (13) was second in 400m individual medley
Iwo Bandura (14) (DX/Derby Phoenix) was second in 200m freestyle and 200m individual medley
Zach Drayson (16) (DX/Belper Marlin) was second in 200m freestyle and 100m breaststroke
William Whitlam (12) (DX/Derby Phoenix) was third in 200m backstroke and 200m individual medley
Oscar Underwood was third in 100m breaststroke
For the girls:
Connie Bunhejee (14) won the 200m butterfly by over 15 seconds, and also won the 100m butterfly.
Miley Aram (16) (DX/Long Eaton) won the 100m and 200m butterfly
Ava Carter (13) (DX/Belper Marlin) won the 100m backstroke and 400m freestyle
Sophie Woodhall (13) won the 200m butterfly and was second in 100m butterfly.
Edie Geis-McCormick (11) won the 400m freestyle, and was second in 100m butterfly
Abbie Tunnicliffe (17) (DX/Long Eaton) won the 400m freeestyle and was third in 100m backstroke.
Amelia Sheil (13) won the 100m butterfly, and was third in 400m freestyle
Charlotte Hall (23) (DX/Etwall) won the 100m backstroke.
Olivia Male (14) won the 400m freestyle.
