Regional Championships - Excellent Results for Derby Excel!

Derby Excel Trustees

East Midland Short Course Championships were held at a freezing Harvey Haddon Leisure Centre Friday to Sunday last week. All the swimmers and volunteer helpers had to contend with these challenging conditions, whilst attempting to bring their ‘A’ game to their races.

With Repton and Loughborough fielding large teams, including swimmers who have represented Team GB at the Olympics and World Championships, it was always going to be challenging to medal, or even reach the finals. Our swimmers did themselves proud with their races, and there were many PBs and National times achieved.

Racing began on Friday evening, with 3 DX swimmers involved in the 800m – Isaac Ebanks, James Lee and Tyler Shaw. James finished in 16th, the third fastest in the 13yo category.

Our finalists were as follows:

Georgie Pryor (27) won GOLD in the 17/o 100m freestyle and 50m backstroke, and was joint GOLD medallist in 100m butterfly.
