Derby Excel Announce New Coaching Team for 2026

The Trustees are delighted to announce our new coaching team, which will be in place early in the new year when current Director of Swimming John Adye steps down. 

Our new Director of Swimming will be Glenn Fisher, who is currently our Head Coach. Glenn will be well known to you all, and has many years of coaching experience both here and at a previous club in Derbyshire. We are delighted he is taking on the role, and are sure he will be a huge success. 

Replacing Glenn as Head Coach will be Oliver Tipping, currently the Head Coach at Long Eaton Swimming Club. Oliver will be a huge asset to Derby Excel, and we are very pleased to welcome him to our club. 

We have an additional appointment to announce: Kevin Renshaw will be joining us as our Coach and Performance Consultant. Kevin will be working 2 days a week, including coaching some sessions, and will bring a wealth of experience to support Glenn and Oliver. Kevin is a swimming coach and mentor who is known and highly regarded all round the world. His impressive CV includes: 

- Coaching at every level of the sport, from 10 and under's to senior elite.
- Coaching medal winning swimmers at every level of International competition, from EYOF to Olympic Games.
- Coaching double World Record holder
- Coaching staff on 3 Olympic Games
- Coaching Olympic swimmers David Davies, Dean Millwain, Roberto Pavoni, Dan Fogg, Stephanie Proud, Jack Burnell, Tim Shuttleworth and Molly Renshaw.
- Coaching staff on 4 World Championship Teams
- Head Coach Team England Commonwealth Games in 2018
- 20 years employed by British Swimming/Aquatics GB
- Loughborough National Centre Coach 2005 to 2012
- Loughborough National Centre Lead Coach 2012 to 2016
- British Swimming Pathway Manager 2016 to 2024
- Aquatics GB Distance Lead 2022 to 2024
- Swim England Coach Mentor, 2024 to present
- UK Coaching Associate Coach Developer 2022 to 2024
- Mentor to coaches Andi Manley (Director of Swimming at Loughborough Uni and Head Coach for Team England at the 2026 Commonwealth Games), Dave Hemmings (Loughborough Performance Centre) and others.

We are absolutely delighted to have Glenn, Oliver and Kevin in these new roles with us,  starting in early 2026.
