Derby Excel New Year Meet 2024

Derby Excel host three Level 1 meets every Spring at the best pool in the country, Ponds Forge in Sheffield. We hosted our latest meet there last weekend, over 2 days, with some very high quality swimmers in attendance from all over the country. It was the first long course meet of the season for almost everyone there, and a good way to get some early season racing for the swimmers. 

We were delighted to see current world record holder Daniel Wiffen there, swimming the 1500m freestyle. Also there was Louise Hansson, the Olympian from Sweden racing our very own Georgie Pryor in 100m butterfly. 

Thank you to all the officials, volunteers and helpers for delivering another very professionally run meet. Our promoters Steve Roome and Rachel Male worked tirelessly, as did entry manager Kirsty Billinge. 

Congratulations to top visiting team City of Sheffield, with City of Glasgow second and City of Peterborough third. Thank you to all the teams who supported the meet.
