Modernian Swimming Lessons

  • We are unable to offer adult lessons at the moment

Our fully qualified SE Teachers follow the National Plan for Teaching Swimming which covers beginners to advanced level swimmers.  Once swimmers have reached a certain level there is the opportunity to progress into Squad training which prepares swimmers for entry into our competitive squads if that is the path they wish to take.

Our lessons run Sunday morning between 9am-12.30pm at Bedford Boys School.

We have a range of swimming stages running at each lesson time. 

All lessons are 30 minutes long and start every half hour.

Maximum class size 8 attendees per 30 minute class.

Lesson are £7.50 per learner for each 30 minute lessons and booked in blocks.  All certificates and badges are included in the lessons fee.

 

Modernian Swimming Lesson Stages

Overview of our classes to help you see an outline of what your children will be learning, practicing and aiming towards in each lesson.

Seals - Stage 1

The First stage of our learn to swim programme focuses on the FUNdamentals of learning to swim.  Children focus on basic movement in the water.  Familiarising themselves with the pool environment and building confidence through games based learning.  Floatation equipment like tummy bands and noodles will be used.

Sealions -Stage 2

Sealions swimmers will be introduced to submersion in the water.  This is the first step working towards a horizontal body position in the water.   They also concentrate on basic floatation and rotation to regain an upright position.  We also introduction arm strokes on their front and back.

Dolphins - Stage 3

This class focuses on improving buoyancy and removing support aids.  We do this by refining kicking techniques for all strokes and improving swimmers body position in the water.  Learners will be working towards swimming 10 metres unaided on their front and back.

Barracudas - Stage 4 

In this Class learners will focus on sculling and treading water to improve their understanding of Pulling on all four strokes, Learners will become more comfortable with rotating whilst maintaining a horizontal body position. Learners will start to work on breathing exercises to help improve the distance they can cover without having to stop. 

Sharks - Stage 5 

In the Sharks group learners will work on developing effective swimming skills including coordinated breathing, learners will also be introduced to understanding water safety and preparation for exercise. in this stage learners will start to improve their stamina and stroke efficiency to allow them to increase the distance they can cover.
