Head Coach & Strength & Conditioning Coach: Jess Woodward

Bio

Jess began her swimming journey at Potters Bar at a young age and quickly progressed to compete at the highest levels of the sport, both nationally and internationally. Over a highly successful competitive career, she represented her county, region and country, achieving standout results including gold medals at the English Nationals in the 50m and 100m Butterfly, a fourth-place finish at the British Nationals in the 50m Freestyle, and selection for Team England at an international meet in Dubai. She also qualified for both the Commonwealth and Olympic Trials.

Following her retirement from competition, Jess was keen to remain within the sport and naturally transitioned into teaching and coaching. She began teaching in 2022, joined the PBSC coaching team in 2023, and completed her Level 2 coaching qualification in 2024. In addition, Jess is a Level 3 Personal Trainer and Gym Instructor, leading the club’s strength and conditioning programme.

Jess coaches the High Performance Squad and works closely with Assistant Head Coach Janet Shine and the wider coaching team to develop and deliver effective, progressive training programmes across all squads.

"I am so excited for this journey and to continue building this club from strength to strength, all the way from Learn to Swim to Masters. I'm looking to grow and develop our squads with a developed training plan to ensure all swimmers' needs are met. I can't wait to work with you all!!"
