Kippax ASC

Our Coaches and Teachers

Steve White - Level 1 Coach and Teacher

I began my swimming journey here at Kippax at the age of 7. spending over 11 years with the club competing for both Kippax and City of Leeds. During that time, I swam and competed consistently at both Yorkshire and NER level. Travelling abroad for galas and competing for the club in both Germany and Canada coming away with numerous gold medals from both countries. More recently I have competed at masters level.

I am a level 1 teacher and Level 1 coach, taking great pride in coaching and teaching i ensure that the foundations are there for our younger athletes to thrive from. I am fully committed to developing the swimmers at this club so that they all meet their full potential. I enjoy working closely with the other coaches to make sure that we get the best out of each child and help them achieve their goals.
Both of my daughters now swim for the club.

Robin Greenwood -   Level 1 Assistant Coach

I’m married to Julie and have a daughter Hannah also at Kippax ASC, living just down the road in Little Preston, with our dog smudge.

I work in the retail world of watches and jewellery, so having the opportunity to coach at Kippax is a great chance to really do something totally different…

Swimming is a fantastic sport for all ages and I really enjoy seeing the children enjoying themselves and developing their ability through the club and hopefully win some medals at galas !

I hope to have an opportunity to help them fulfil their potential with a good measure of fun thrown in too...

John Coultish -  Level 2 Coach

I have been a swimmer all my life competing in my first gala age 8 for Morley SC. I joined City of Leeds shortly after and swam with them until I was 17. During my time with Leeds I swam at Yorkshire, NER and national level on numerous occasions. My final gala for Leeds was defending my Yorkshire 400 IM record.

During my time at Leeds I was selected to swim in Germany and France on many occasions and America for the Macdonalds Junior Olympics.  On leaving city of Leeds I joined the army eventually serving with 7 Para RHA where I was selected to swim for my regiment and later the army - at the time I was the youngest serving soldier to be awarded my army sporting colours for swimming. I went on to swim for the combined services team against other countries military.

Since leaving the army I have continued to swim. In the last few years I have completed 2 full Ironman triathlons, swam lake Ullswater finishing first in my age group and second over all. Last year I swam the 11.5 miles of Lake Windermere and was also first in my age group.  I still regularly train between 6000  and 9000 metres a week with the Leeds Masters at John Charles  and train in open water with the Leeds Bradford Triathlon Club.  I also enjoy running and will complete my 10th full marathon later this year as well as competing in the Long course weekend 2.4 miles lake sprint against some of the best open water swimmers in the country in September.
