Repton Swimming Coaching Appointments
Repton Swimming are delighted to announce the appointment of Craig Prime to the position of Repton Swimming Performance Coach.
A UKCC Level 3 Senior Coach, Craig has been involved in swimming coaching for the past 15 years and is currently in his 10th year as Head Coach of Wrexham Swimming Club in North Wales. During that time Craig has overseen a significant growth in the club’s membership, coaching team and performance, with his swimmers reaching multiple levels of competition from the UK School Games to The British Championships, Olympic trials and Swim Wales National Skills Squad, as well as the Club being appointed a Swim Wales Performance Club in 2019.
In addition, Craig won a UK Coaching Award in 2021 for his outstanding achievements during the Covid Pandemic and has been a member of the Swim Wales Coach Development Programme working with the best swimmers in Wales to develop their skills and behaviours as part of their Performance pathway.
Craig will join Repton Swimming in September and have specific responsibility for one of our Performance Squads.
In addition, Repton Swimming have appointed Marcus Birmingham to the position of Repton Swimming Assistant Coach and Graduate Assistant.
Marcus joins Repton having recently completed his Masters degree in Sports, Exercise and Health Sciences at The University of Birmingham. During his time at Birmingham, Marcus delivered coaching to their university swimmers, with particular responsibility for their Development group. He has coached at County, Regional and British University Championships, as well as with a Masters squad at a club local to the University. Marcus started his coaching journey aged 14 as a young volunteer with the County Development Squad at his home club in Oxfordshire. A Level 2 Coach and qualified Swimming Teacher, Marcus will join Repton in late August on a full-time basis and have specific responsibility for one of our junior squads, as well as supporting all aspects of swimming across our performance squads.
We are sure you will agree that these two new coaching appointments and investments further strengthen Repton’s position in our aim to deliver the best programme in the county, region and beyond. The Coaching Team of Scott, Craig, Maria, Marcus, Richard, Ann and S&C Coach Alex will undoubtedly provide an exceptional opportunity for our young swimmers to develop to the best of their ability.
