Repton appoints new Head of Development
Repton Swimming are pleased to announce that Mr Paul Stanley has been appointed as our new Head of Development, to begin in August 2023. The Head of Development is a new senior position created by Repton Swimming to oversee the Development Pathway, which is a crucial part of any young swimmer’s progression.
Paul began his career as a Junior Coach with Chase Swimming Club in Staffordshire, before becoming a Performance Pathway Coach with City of Peterborough Swimming Club and most recently Lead Development Coach at Hamilton Aquatics. Throughout these roles, Paul has been responsible for the planning, delivery and management of all swimmers in their respective club’s Development Pathways and his philosophy is driven by the desire to put the key building blocks in place and create an environment for long term swimming success. After an extensive search and interview process led by the club’s management, which included a strong field of candidates applying from around the UK and overseas, we are delighted to be able to appoint Paul to the role.
Within the new framework issued by the club last week, Paul will take the lead on two squads, being the Lead Coach for both Performance Potential and Junior Development groups from September, in addition to ensuring a smooth transition between the Learn 2 Swim and next stages in the pathway.
Ian Pollock, Chair of Repton Swimming says: “This is an exciting new role for Repton at a time of huge success and growth for the club. From our inception just 3.5 years ago, under the direction Ash Morris as Director of Swimming, the club now stands at 160 members, with varied pathways to suit the needs of a range of swimmers. We know that Paul’s appointment will strengthen those pathways further and help us achieve our aim of having the leading development programme in the region and beyond.”
Paul adds: “ It is a real honour for me to join Repton at such an exciting time in its development and I look forward to working with the young swimmers and the team at Repton from August. Repton’s clear ambition for its swimmers is a major attraction for joining the programme and I look forward to leading the club’s development pathway in the new season.”
Ahead of the new season, Repton Swimming have an extensive number of swimmers who have qualified for the British or Home Nation Championships this Summer, including Laurie Devine and Hannah Bowley, who will also represent Great Britain Juniors in Serbia in July. Both Hannah and Laurie will also compete for their respective home nations at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Trinidad in August, and will be joined by Holly Marshall who will represent Wales.
