Welcome to Poole Swimming Club Masters
Poole SC Masters Squad is for swimmers over 18 years old that want to be part of a fun and friendly group who train for fitness and competition. We are proud to have current British, European and World masters record holders in our squads, as well as multiple swimmers featured in the top 10 European and World rankings (2024).
We provide 5 sessions a week, with 4 structured sessions taken by our experienced masters coach Marc Newman. Marc is a former elite international swimmer who competed for Great Britian for 7 years and previously held the world record for an English Channel swim. He is experienced at coaching swimmers of all ages and abilities and is passionate about helping people achieve their goals.
Our sessions cater to all abilities from those training for fitness or wishing to improve their technique, as well as those who wish to compete at a range of levels. If you were a club swimmer in your youth or have come to swimming later in life we will have a lane suitable for you. We also have many open water swimmers and triathletes that join our sessions. Our programme is designed to work towards the competition schedule, aiming to peak for major events.
There are many opportunities to compete at a range of levels, including our annual Poole Masters Meet (incorporating the Dorset County Masters Championships), as well as other regional, national and international events. Many of our swimmers also compete for Dorset at the annual Intercounties Masters competition. Whilst we like to encourage our swimmers to work towards competing, there is no pressure to do so if you simply wish to train for fitness, improved technique or fun.
We also hold many social events throughout the year including breakfasts, open water swims, awards evenings and Christmas parties.

In addition to monthly fees, there are annual club membership and Swim England fees which will be confirmed on application.
Kit List
Although there are no strict requirements, we recommend the following kit to make the most out of our sessions:

There are some limited kick board and pull bouys available on poolside at the Dolphin Centre.
