Swim England Level X Racing Series 1

During December 2020, the club took part in the Swim England Level X Racing series. In essence, Level X racing provided an opportunity for us to run in-house time trials with all the results being submitted to Swim England’s Rankings database.  The series also offered a fun opportunity for swimmers to practice their racing skills in the comfort of their home training environment during the absence of face-to-face competitions due to the COVID-19 epidemic. Many, but not all, Swim England clubs took part in the competition.

With the support of all our brilliant volunteers, including Tina A who inputted around 500 times to Swim England, the club managed to host 50m, 100m and 200m events for our County, Regional and National Academies.

The coaches are extremely proud of our results during such a challenging season and a massive amount of personal best times were recorded.

In particular, we would like to mention 4 swimmers who earned National Medals by finishing in the “Top 3” positions in the country (picture below). Well done to:

·         Luca S: 1st place 50m Butterfly (Gold medal)

·         Robbie H: 1st place 200m Backstroke (Gold medal)

·         Catherine E: 3rd place 100m Butterfly (Bronze medal)

Nuala O'K: 3rd place 200m Butterfly (Bronze medal)

Furthermore, an additional 13 swimmers ranked in the “Top 10" and our congratulations go to:

·         Bertie B

·         Aimie Q

·         Freya C

·         Jes H

·         Freddie B

·         Freddie H

·         Tilly M

·         Max L

·         Charlie M

·         Izzy R

·         Phil B

·         Jack P

·         Toby W

In addition, 46 swimmers achieved a “Top 44” place. The reason we look at the “Top 44” rankings is that in a typical year these swimmers could potentially have qualified swimmers for the end of season National Competitions. We also had 20 swimmers placed in the “Top 100”. Overall, out of the 100 swimmers who raced, we had 82 swimmers making a “Top 100” ranking position. These rankings are outstanding!

Looking ahead, Swim England is preparing a “Series 2” event as part of its launch into face-to-face competitions once again. In the meantime, we enjoy seeing our swimmers complete challenges out of the pool.

The club would like to extend a huge well done to all swimmers, and a huge thank you to all the volunteers that allowed the Level X series to happen.
