Record-Breaking Form in 2022
It's back to record-breaking form for Poole Swimming Club athletes, with 23 Age Group Records being broken so far in 2022. In addition, 8 Senior Long Course Club Records were broken at the British Swimming Championships, with 3 of them doubling up as Dorset County Senior Long Course Records,
Age Group Record Breakers so far in 2022
It was with beaming pride that coaches Jacob and Phil, watched Polina K’s record-breaking form seeing her break Club Age Group Records on a massive10 occasions so far this year in 50m Free (Twice), 100m Free, 200m Free, 50m Back, 100m Back (Twice), 200m Back and 50m Fly (Twice).

One of the oldest records Polina broke was the 50m Fly held by one of the club's most decorated swimmers Sarah Meaker who had held the record since 1998. And with some connection to the numbers, Polina broke the record in the same pool a mere 24 years later!
The set of freestyle records gained in 2006 belonged to Victoria Adams, with the 200m Back held since 2009 by Georgia Harrison, all records set before Polina was born.
The 50m and 100m Back records were set in modern times by Jes H who is currently just a few age groups above and still rewriting and targeting records under coach Jan’s watchful eye.
With much of the year ahead, we look forward to seeing how many more Records Polina can target.
Halle R, earned a full set of Breast-stroke records in her age group. The 50m Breaststroke was lowered twice by Halle, a record that had stood for 20 years by Sarah Meaker. Whilst the 100m Breaststroke took just six-hundredths of a second from the mark that was set by teammate and friend Bertie last season (who as you will read about soon is on record-breaking form again). Halle lowered the 200m mark by just over 5 seconds!

Bertie B, carried her record-breaking form last year into 2022, by breaking the 50m Breast-stroke record in her age group twice in successive competitions. The previous record was set by Hannah-May Hawkins had lasted an impressive 22 years.
Freya C, after gaining her first club record towards the end of 2021, hit January in great form beating age group record’s in 50m and 100m Back during the Dorset County Championships. The 50m Back record belonged to Courtney Rowan and was earned in 2010, with Madison Kemp holding the 100m time set in 2012.

Ollie J, with impressive swims at the British Champs, earned a full set of 17+ Age Group Records in the 50m, 100m and 200m Breast-stroke events. The 50m Record did belong to Ollie Weston, who set the record in the same event in 2019. Inspiringly, Ollie Weston had made a comeback in 2022 and qualified for this year’s Championships in the same event but had to pull out because of injury, however as we would expect of our athletes he was the first to congratulate his teammate who swam exactly the same time in Heat and Final.
The 100m Breast-stroke time belonged to Luke Roxborough and was set in 2017 before Ollie broke the mark in the heat and again lowered it further in the final. The 200m Breast-stroke has lasted since 2014 set by Noah Vides and was lowered by Ollie in the final of the 200m at the British Champs 2022.

Robbie H, lowered the 17+ Age Group Record in 200 IM lowering the standard set by Oliver Fairman in the same competition in 2019. The 200IM becomes Robbie’s 6th event he holds a record for in this age group.

Senior Long Course Records
The All-Time Senior Long Course Records took a considerable hit during the Week of the British Championships with Ollie taking 4 Records, Robbie 3 and Catherine also adding to the tally.
Ollie Jones's long course times set Senior Club Long Course Records in 50m,100m (Twice) and 200m Breaststroke with Robbie earning the 100m Back, 200m Back and 200m IM marks. Catherine lowered her own 50m Back Record by half a second.
Dorset Senior Long Course Records
Ollie Jones earned his first Senior Dorset Record in 50m Breaststroke, a record that was as old as Ollie himself set in the year he was born by Rob Tweddle. Robbie earned the 100m Back and 200IM Record. Dorset Records can be seen on the County Website www.dorsetasa.org
