NATIONAL ARENA JUNIOR SWIMMING LEAGUE – ROUND 2 2024
POOLE ROAR & POOLE DRAGONS

Round 2 of the 2024 National Arena Junior Swimming League took place at the Littledown Centre in Bournemouth on Sunday 9 th June. Following our success in Round 1, we swam two teams again in Round 2: Poole Roar and Poole Dragons. As well as competing in the National League we were also competing against teams from Swim Bournemouth, Seagulls and West Dorset in the 2024 ‘Dorset Inter Club’ league. On the night we made great progress compared to Round 1 and there were some simply brilliant swims. There was also a great team
atmosphere on the poolside. More importantly, it was pleasing to see everyone making themselves available to race in Round 2 and there were a good number of personal best times swum overall.
Results published by the League on 27th June confirmed that both of our teams had done well nationally with Poole Roar placed in 8 th place (a rise of 2 places) and Poole Dragons placing in 43rd place (a fall of 3 places). The top 8 teams in the National League will be invited to compete in the National final in Aylesbury in September.

After Round 2, the ‘Dorset Inter-Club’ results rank the Poole Roar team in 1st place and the Poole Dragons team
in 4th place and we will be pressing to rank both teams in a ‘top 3’ spot when we race again on 13th July.

The coaching team would like to say a huge well done to our young swimmers. Following on from our success in Round 1, we are so thrilled to have consolidated on our overall League positions. Looking ahead, it is vital that every swimmer who is selected for Round 3 makes themselves available. With a 100% commitment from everyone, we know that we can push for a “Top 8” place and make the National final again this year. Round 3 will take place at 15.45pm on Saturday 13th July at Rossmore Leisure Centre - please put this date in your diary today.
To conclude, let’s continue to work hard, make those training sessions, and let’s see if we can improve on our National League standings as we go into Round 3. This is a team event and EVERY swimmer is important.
