Learn to Swim
BPSC’s Learn to Swim (LTS) lessons create a safe and fun environment to support our youngest swimmers through an enjoyable games-led approach.
Our qualified teachers and enthusiastic water helpers teach the children their first strokes, building their techniques on a weekly basis, allowing them to increase their water confidence and develop a lifelong enjoyment for swimming.
BPSC’s Learn to Swim lessons offer the following:
- Primarily for children aged 11 and under (although complete beginners must be 7 years or under)
- Classes to suit a variety of experiences
- Follows the Swim England LTS Programme up to Stage 6
- Awards certificates and badges for each stage completed
- Friendly Swim England-qualified teachers – all over-16s are DBS-checked
- Keen and approachable pool water helpers to support your child’s development – the majority of our water helpers began their own swimming journey at BPSC and currently swim in our squads
- Value for money – BPSC is a non-profit registered charity
- A free taster session for new starters
- Sessions across the week, at various Barnet venues;
- Natural progression into the club’s squads, with the opportunity to participate in competitions
Interested in joining our swimming family?
If you would like to arrange a free trial and register your child for our LTS lessons, please email Jack on [email protected] with your child’s details including current swim ability, (distances, stokes and times) age and preferred lesson time.
Please note that we have waiting lists for some of our lesson times so you might be offered an alternative time slot in the first instance.
Additional Needs & Learning differences
Wherever possible BPSC aims to create an inclusive environment for ALL and welcomes children with additional needs and learning differences.
Please contact Jack on [email protected] to discuss your child’s needs to ensure that we can fully accommodate them and make the necessary arrangements where possible.
Equipment
Swimmers will need swim hats and goggles (Zoggs do a good junior brand for different ages) and appropriate swimwear (not beachwear) for their lessons.
