Role of the Welfare Officer
The welfare officer is your point of contact at the club for any welfare concerns relating to members of our club, child or adult.
The welfare officer will:
- respond to the concern, disclosure, suspicion or allegation in a timely and appropriate manner
- securely record any relevant information
- investigate and relay the information to the appropriate person/organisation
- seek remediation steps as appropriate

What is a Welfare concern?
Crediton and District Swimming Club have a duty of care to ensure that our members can swim in a safe and secure environment.
A welfare concern is any form of maltreatment of a person which inflicts harm, including, but not limited to
- physical abuse - including deliberate harm
- bullying - whether verbally, physically, emotionally or through discriminitative means
- grooming, sexual abuse or other harassment
- neglect - a lack of action that fails to prevent any of the above
Reporting a Welfare concern
If the concern is not urgent then in the first instance you should try and contact one of the welfare officers above by emailing [email protected].
If none of the welfare officers are available you may also contact the welfare team at Swim England directly. Use the link below to find out how to do that. Please let us know by emailing us at [email protected] if you do that so that we are aware of it. Please be aware this email address is check regularly and we will endevour to respond to your enquiry with in a week.

Urgent concerns
If the concern is urgent and about a child at risk, and you cannot contact your Welfare Officer or the Swim England safeguarding team, you can call the NSPCC on 0808 800 5000.
If it is an emergency because a child or adult is at immediate risk, then call the police or children’s social care (if appropriate) in your area.
If a child or adult is in immediate danger contact the police on 999. For non-emergencies 101.
