The City of Glasgow Swim Team (COGST)
Founded in 1993, the City of Glasgow Swim Team (COGST) quickly established itself as one of the premier swim teams in Scotland. In our short history, we have nurtured numerous athletes who have competed at the highest international levels, representing their countries at European Championships, World Championships, Commonwealth Games, Paralympics and the Olympics.
Our Mission
We are committed to providing an inclusive environment where all members can enjoy the sport of swimming. At COGST, swimmers can be themselves and work towards their goals as one unified club. We take pride in fostering a supportive and ambitious community.
Our Programs
Our swimmers range from 6-year-olds in our Junior squads to senior Masters swimmers, all guided through the club's structured progression pathway. We offer a comprehensive training program designed to help each swimmer achieve their maximum potential. While competitive success is a key focus, we also emphasize personal growth, teaching valuable life skills such as resilience, dealing with success and setbacks, work ethic, and teamwork.
Facilities
Our home pool is the impressive Tollcross International Swimming Centre, host of the 2014 Commonwealth Games, featuring two Olympic-sized 50m pools. We also utilise several other top-class swimming facilities in and around Glasgow, providing our members with access to the best resources available.
Our Community
COGST is open to swimmers of all abilities. The club is managed by a voluntary committee composed of individuals from various professional backgrounds, led by a Management Committee, which includes the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Our committee is dedicated to the well-being and success of our members, the development of the club, and collaborating with local community clubs to grow membership and promote the sport of swimming.
Competitive Achievements
Our age group swimmers regularly compete at the highest levels within the UK, with many representing the Scottish National Junior Team. Some of our swimmers continue to excel in university programs both nationally and internationally. Over the years, COGST has achieved success in various championships, including:
- Scottish Schools Championships & Scottish National Age Group winners
- West District and National District Squads
- English National Youth Championships winners
- Scottish, Great Britain, and World Open Water Championships
- Commonwealth Games, World Championships, World University Games, and Olympic Games
- Paralympic Games
