Musselburgh Amateur Swimming Club has been awarded the prestigious AquaMark status by the national swimming body. AquaMark is a Scottish Swimming initiative which aims to grow the sport through recognised grassroot swimming clubs which are strong, sustainable, and inclusive. In order to meet the criteria, clubs must adhere to equality standards, engage with the local community, and provide safe, well-governed and friendly environments for their members. This year's Musselburgh Amateur Swim Club Championships 2024 took part on Sunday 10 November followed by our awards night on Saturday 16th November. Musselburgh Amateur Swimming Club (MASC) welcomes the news that funding has been secured in order to reopen the Loch Centre in Tranent. The Loch Centre is home to Tranent Amateur Swimming Club (TASC), one of three vital grassroots competitive swimming clubs in the East Lothian swimming pathway, alongside MASC and Haddington. Collectively these clubs play a crucial role in producing world class athletes. Musselburgh Amatuer Swimming Club athletes had a strong weekend at the East District Championships (Round 2) at Royal Commonwealth Pool over the weekend. Our swimmers reached coutless finals throughout the event, achieved many PBs and even walked away with a few medals. The gala was the first long course event of the season, and the first time competing in a 50m pool for a few of our swimmers, so an excellent experience all round. What a day of swimming and what a way to get us into the Christmas Spirit! As usual the Xmas gala never fails to disappoint with lots of festive fun, dressing up, music but more importantly some fast swimming. The busy schedule throughout Saturday was split with younger swimmers in the morning and older swimmers in the afternoon.
