David Lloyd Swim Program Criteria

 

Adult & Baby: 1st experience for most swimmers attending this class. Teacher in the water with swimmers and parent. Teachers will show parent how to hold the child in the water on front and back. Class will progress to submerging under water for swimmer. The more exposure to water the more confident the swimmer becomes. Teacher will make the class fun through games, toys and sometimes music. Ratio: 1:6

Tiny Tots: An introduction to swimming through games and other fun activities. Confidence in the water allows children to move to the next level. Parents can start in water to relax their child but parent may be asked to leave when swimmers gets more confident. All swimmers will be taught in arm bands and teacher will take bands off from time to time. Class promotes kicking, basic arm movement’s front and back, blowing bubbles and face in water when swimmers are ready. Ratio: 1:6


Tadpoles: Confidence swimming on their own in arm bands. Not looking for parents. Will swim on front and back with arm bands without help. Promoting face in the water and basic arm movements.  Ratio: 1:4
Starfish: Swimmers will start in arm bands as class progresses teacher will take most confident swimmer out off bands. Full submersion, floating on front and back, and ability to swim 2 meters on front and back without bands. Ratio: 1:6


Level 1: Swim 5 meters on front and back. Can swim basic front crawl, legs only back crawl and be able to push and glide. Swimmers should be able to streamline swim on front and back. Teacher should introduce swimming on sides to promote bi lateral breathing. Ratio 1:6


Level 2: Swim 15 meters backstroke. Swim 5 meters dolphin kick / butterfly kick, on front or back. Swim 15 meters of front stroke and attempt to breath. Teacher will bring in breast stroke practices. Ratio: 1:8


Level 3: Scull 10 meters head first and feet first. Swim 25 meters backstroke. Swim 50m front crawl with bi lateral breathing. Swim 25m breast stroke with correct technique and breathing. Attempt dolphin kick / butterfly kick. Teacher should introduce diving and tumble turns. Ratio: 1:10


Level 4: Swim 100 meters of front stroke focusing on good technique with rotation.  Swim 50 meters of a second front stroke with correct technique. Swim all 4 strokes for with correct technique and timing. Front crawl with tumble turns, perform 2 types of dives.  Ratio: 1:10


Level 5: Swim 50 meters in 70 seconds. Swim 4 lengths, swim im performing correct turns and a finish. Ratio: 1:10


Level 6: Swim 400 meters within 10 minutes using a recognized competition stroke. Swim 100 meters in 2 minutes. Swim 100 meters Individual medley. Ratio: 1:10


Level 7: Pre squad level which will focus on making swimmers pre competition ready. Swimmers will swim between 1,000 – 1,800 meters with correct starts and turns. Ratio: 1:10


Junior Squad: Swimmers will be chosen by head coach to advance to the Senior Squad. Sessions will swim between 1,500 – 2,000 meters. Some swimmers will attend galas, junior squad should attend 2 or more sessions weekly.  Ratio: 1:10


Senior Squad: By invitation only by head coach. Most swimmers will attend galas, sessions will swim between 2,500 – 3,500 per hour. Senior squad should swim 2 or more sessions weekly. Ratio: 1:10

Masters: 18+, Swimmers should have the ability to swim all four strokes confidently. Mon, Weds & Thursday. Sets will vary, Min Distanec 2k / Max Distance 4K per session. 2 lanes, one lane dedicated to technique. For more info talk to Pat.
