JUNIOR & NATIONAL YOUTH and SENIOR ACADEMIES
Back nearer home, 12 REN96 swimmers were also in action having been selected at the end of a successful 2022/23 season for Scottish Swimming’s Junior, Senior and Youth Academies, which are part of its prestigious National and Regional Development programmes. Three of REN96’s 12 years-and-under swimmers - Charlotte Craig, Ella Craig and Jack Kivlehan - took part in the Junior Academy training day at Cumbernauld Tryst Sports Centre, while six of the club’s 13 & 14 year olds - Cara White, Murray Johnston, Cole McCluskey, Ryan Crabbe, Evie Chan and Abigail Fagan - took part in the Junior Academy camp at Sir Matt Busby sports centre in Bellshill, with club coach Calum Johnston part of the coaching team.
Over the same weekend at Tollcross in Glasgow, REN96 senior swimmers Magnus Morris and Adam Scott took part in the National Youth Academy and Tom Jeffords took part in the National Senior academy.
Each of the training camps followed a similar format with pool sessions, land training and athlete education sessions. All of the swimmers enjoyed the camps and performed very well - they should be congratulated on the great achievement of being selected for these programmes.
