A team of young seagulls competed down at Dorchester for the West Dorset County qualifier this past weekend with many swimmers within team having not done a open meet before. This was a perfect opportunity for the swimmers to gain experience racing and official times. This past weekend Seagulls had a team of 15 swimmers compete at the highly competitive TYR super series at Millfield school in Somerset. This meet had swimmers from a variety of different clubs ranging all around the country which included a number of International swimmers and national champions. Seagulls this past weekend flew down to Dorchester for the first round of the national arena league. There were plenty of excited swimmers either who hadn’t race this competition since 2019 and many first-time members of the team. Seagulls were back to racing this past weekend for the Swim Bournemouth return to competition lvl 3 meet at littledown centre. It was such an amazing experience to see so many swimmers racing and cheering each other along. A great team spirit and to have the crowds cheering again even better. We have missed that atmosphere. A massive congratulations to Seagull’s parent and club volunteer co – Ordinator Mish Frampton who just completed her first Iron man in Finland. She managed to complete the gruelling race which consists of 3.9K swim, 112-mile Cycle and a full marathon in 12 hours 49 minutes. An amazing achievement and massive well done from all of us at Seagulls this race takes months and months of long training hours and unbelievable amount of mental strength to finish.

Well done to Seagulls Youth performance swimmer Aiden Dure- Smith who competed in the Salty dog triathlon in Bournemouth last weekend. He managed to finish 2nd in his age group (16-19 yrs) and 9th overall out of a field of 96. Great work Aiden

Seagulls this past weekend competed at Millfield for the South West regional Festival of Swimming which had Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire counties competing at this event. The other South West regional counties, Devon and Cornwall, competed at the Plymouth Life centre in Plymouth. Results will be combined to give overall results in the region and also put towards an overall national ranking leaderboard. Big well done to Seagulls brothers Lewis and Alex McLaughlin who swam at the Henley swim festival this past weekend. Both boys competing in their first open water event swam the half mile course in the river Thames. Alex claimed the bronze medal in the 9-13 yrs age group and Lewis finished in 4th also in the 9-13yrs age group.
