Suffolk County Championships 2026 - Qualifying times
County Qualifying Times (QTs) – Explained
Every January, Swim England Suffolk holds the County Championships – the highest-level competition in the county. To take part, swimmers need to achieve set standards known as County Qualifying Times (QTs).
What are the Suffolk County Championships Qualifying Times?
-
QTs are times that swimmers must achieve in licensed competitions (officially recognised by Swim England) Such as the Club Championships, Novice Meets, Open meets, No Frills etc.
-
QT's are set by Swim England Suffolk each season and vary by swimmer’s age group, sex, and event.
-
Age is calculated as of 31st December 2026 – Your swimmer will compete in a higher age group than the age they are today.
-
Swimmers must achieve the QT within the qualifying window (any time swum since 1st January 2025) to be eligible to enter that event at Counties.
Why are they important?
-
They give swimmers a clear target to work towards throughout the season.
-
Achieving a QT is a major milestone and something to be very proud of.
-
They mark progress and open the door to competing at the County Championships.
What if my child doesn’t have a QT yet?
That’s completely normal!
-
Many swimmers take several seasons before achieving their first one.
-
Club galas and licensed meets are all opportunities to work towards them.
-
Our coaches support swimmers at every step – and celebrate every personal best, not just QTs
