East Region Masters Championships
Nine Stowmarket swimmers competed in the East Region Masters Championships held at Newmarket on Sunday where the team won 10 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze medals.
Leading the way for Stowmarket was Joe Freezer closely followed by Lewis Chapman and Olivia Curtin setting some excellent times. Joe stormed to victory in the 35-39 years 100m IM, 50m front crawl, 100m fly and 50m fly whilst Lewis had a clean sweep of golds in the 18-24 years 50m front crawl, 50m breast and 50m fly. Liv continued her masters comeback winning the 30-34 years 50m front crawl and 50m fly and coming 2
nd in the 100m front crawl.
David Harrison completely dominated the 35-39 years 100m front crawl again with a superb swim.
Andy Wright was 2
nd in the 65-69 years 200m breast, 400m front crawl and 200m back and 3
rd in the 50m breast. Ollie Hale and Mikey Fisher narrowly missed out on medals with Ollie being 4
th in the 25-29 years 100m front crawl and Mikey 4
th in the 25-29 years 50m front crawl. Poppy Bingham and William Handley completed the team effort with Poppy's 8
th in the 50m breast and 12
th in the 50 m front crawl and Will came 11
th in the 18-24 years 50m front crawl. The team captain of the day giving lots of encouragement was Sophie Barrett.
