Huge congratulations to Amber and Alfie!
They have been selected to swim for Suffolk in the National Team Championships in Sheffield on Sunday 5th October 2025.
The National Team Championships is always a fun, colourful, and competitive event, held in front of a packed crowd at Sheffield’s Ponds Forge. More than 900 swimmers will compete, representing English counties as well as Scottish and Welsh regions. With two pools running simultaneously — Division 1 and Division 2 — the atmosphere is electric.
Heats for individual races are seeded according to entry times, while team events are randomly drawn. Individual events are contested across three age groups: 12/13, 14/15, and 16/17 years. Each age group features 100m races in all four strokes, with one swimmer per county.
There will also be 4x50m Medley Relays for each age group, plus a mixed 6x50m Freestyle Relay, made up of one male and one female swimmer from each age group.
Scoring is by place: first earns 20 points, second 19, third 18, and so on. At the end of the competition, the bottom four teams in Division 1 are relegated to Division 2 for the following year, while the top four in Division 2 are promoted.
Stowmarket Swimming Club sends its best wishes to all of Team Suffolk this weekend — and especially to Amber and Alfie!
All Swim England national events are usually live on YouTube, hopefully this event will be streamed as in previous years.
