Swimmers progress from Youth Performance to our Senior squad with a phased transition. Youth Performance swimmers are invited to join some of the Senior sessions in order to experience swimming with older swimmers in more demanding sessions. The further progression from Senior is our Senior Performance squad.
Senior Performance squad swimmers follow a training programme designed to help them achieve optimal performance at three points in the season. Swimmers start to focus more on their stronger events, either by distance or stroke.
Swimmers in Senior Performance squad are required to show a commitment to the training programme and should attend a minimum of 4 x sessions per week including their Dry Land sessions in addition to Thursday and Friday pool sessions.
Senior Performance squad swimmers are expected to compete in any team or relay events for which they are selected. Participation in the Club Championships is mandatory for Performance swimmers as well as attendance at County Championships and Regional Championships. Swimmers are expected to compete at a range of Open Meets at a range of levels – please note there are exceptions only for Triathletes and Pentahletes within the squad.
