King’s College Taunton Community Swimming - Terms and Conditions:

Part A: Teacher and Parent Responsibilities
  1. All swimming teachers have either level 2 qualifications or, when deemed necessary by risk assessment, level 1 qualifications. They must also undergo enhanced DBS checks.
  2. During lessons, the swimming teacher is responsible for the students. However, parents or guardians must remain on the premises for all children aged 8 and below. They are responsible for managing behaviour and assisting with toilet trips.
  3. Parents or guardians should not distract the teacher during the lesson. If they have any concerns or questions, they should approach the teacher after the lesson or communicate via email.
Part B: Pupil Illness
  1. If a child is unwell, they should not attend the swimming lesson.
  2. Additionally, anyone who has experienced diarrhoea must refrain from swimming for 48 hours after recovery.
Part C: Lesson Format and Programme
  1. Due to the small size of our swim school, we do not operate separate groups for each level in the Swim England Learn to Swim Programme. Instead, children progress through the skills in this program up to a level broadly equivalent to Swim England stage 7 at which point they can join the community swimming squad sessions.
  2. Pupils will be assessed on a termly basis, and they will be moved up to the next group when their skills reach the appropriate level.
  3. Due to the limited capacity of our swim school, we cannot guarantee immediate availability in the next group at the required time.
  4. You may request a change of group, time, or teacher at any time. While we will make efforts to accommodate your request, please note that we will only move a child up a group once they have reached the required proficiency level and can progress safely.
  5. Swimming ability and progression can vary among individuals.
  6. Group swimming lessons typically last for 45 minutes. However, for younger children and some one-to-one lessons, the duration is 30 minutes. The time of lessons includes time for change-over between groups and registration time.
  7. The pupil to teacher ratios will always meet or be better than the recommended levels set by Swim England.
  8. We reserve the right to combine lessons at short notice.
Part D: Swimming Lesson Costumes and Hygiene
  1. Pupils must wear fitted costumes that are not baggy.
  2. Jewellery is not allowed during swimming lessons.
  3. Goggles are permitted.
  4. Before swimming, all participants should shower and use the toilet.
  5. Long hair should be tied back to ensure safety and hygiene.
  6. It is strongly recommended that participants wear swimming hats.
Part E: Payment
  1. Lessons are booked in half-term blocks.
  2. Payments are processed through the Sports Engine system, which is used by the swim school.

Part N: Valuables and Lost Property
  1. The swim school does not accept any responsibility for the loss or damage of personal effects brought by swimmers, parents, or guardians.
  2. We strongly advise against bringing valuables to the pool premises. Please ensure that you and your children leave any valuable items at home or secure them safely elsewhere.
  3. In the event of lost property, items will be kept until the end of the half term.
  4. After the designated period, any unclaimed lost property items will either be disposed of or donated to charity.
  5. If you suspect that you or your child has lost an item, a crate will be provided in the disabled toilet where lost property items are placed. You may search for your missing item in the designated area.
  6. While the swim school will make reasonable efforts to assist in locating lost items, we cannot guarantee their retrieval. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
