Our Junior Squad consists of 4 groups. Fins squad is the pathway into the club and caters for the younger inexperienced swimmer starting their competitive swimming journey. Most of our swimmers enter the club at this level after completing swimming lessons.  Here, the coaches begin to train the young swimmers in swimming discipline, stroke techniques, diving off the starting blocks, learning how to turn as well as building up their general fitness.  When swimmers are ready, they are actively encouraged to compete at meetings relevant to their standards. Competitions known as 'Mini meets' cater for such swimmers and are great for swimmer confidence and team building. When swimmer have progressed they will then move to Superfins and thereafter C which incorporates longer training sessions.

When swimmers reach a certain level, they will move to our B squad where more in depth techniques are instilled and the amount of training is increased. This will include longer distances covered at sessions with shorter rest periods to gain more aerobic capacity. As well as competing locally, swimmers will be encouraged to compete at District level across the North of Scotland.

When ready, the swimmer will then be ready to move to our A squad. This is generally the more senior squad within the Junior Squad and where the sessions become more challenging and where the full potential of the swimmer can be met. From here, the club send swimmers to District as well as National meets.

IASC are affiliated to the Highland Swim Team.  HST is a composite swimming team consisting of members of 6 clubs in the Highlands with Thurso, Wick, Lochaber, Tain and Nairn as well as IASC which provides a pathway for Elite/Performance swimmers from across the region.
