SAFEGUARDING AND WELFARE

The medals and Trophies are fantastic, we love the PBs and county times, A place in the KJL team is wonderful and we definitely do want to stay in the Arena A final, but you’ll find Bromley swimming club is a whole lot more!

At Bromley swimming club we value all our swimmers not just for their times and achievements. EVERYONE here is welcome, everyone is valued in this small club and a whole lot of emphasis is placed upon ‘being there’ for each other, supporting each other and being a TEAM!

At Bromley swimming club we are committed to making sure each members swimming journey has quality Coaching and is fun and Safe!

Safeguarding is not any one person’s job; it is the duty of us all to look out for all children and or vulnerable young adults.

BSC adhere to swim England Child safeguarding policies and procedures, “Wavepower”

Which can be found here…

All our coaches and the committee are welcoming and friendly and approachable and more than happy to help with any issues, however at times we recognise that issues might need escalating. In the first instance any issues should be raised with the coach or team manager who is present at the time and alongside this we have a designated welfare officer, ‘Sam Powell’ who will talk you through any concerns or issues and help where possible if you would rather contact her than the coaching team.

For Parents/ carers

It is important to understand your child’s goals…. they may be different from yours!

Do you know what your child wants to achieve at the BSC?

Why are they involved?

How can you help them?

No matter how big your involvement with the club we want it to be respectful and considerate for all and we ask for positive parental involvement.

The Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) have produced a great video highlighting how parents’ behaviour sometimes changes when their child is placed within a competitive environment. Worth a watch here…

We are always so thankful for the help of all our parents and careers and Families that make us the club we are. Parents plat a vital role in encouraging, enabling and supporting children's participation in the club at every level, we would not exist without you!!

For new parents, when you feel ready and your child has settled into the club you may consider helping, you may have specific skills that you can offer. BSC are always looking for people to help run it, assist at galas, join the committee, or take part in fundraising activities.

Please contact any committee member (see committee tab) or your child’s Coach
