I did belong to my local swimming club for a little while as a child, however I certainly didn't do training like the Witney swimmers and I'm not sure I even realised it was a competitive swimming club. One night I turned up to discover it was Club Championships that session - I can remember being disqualified in breaststroke for allowing my nose to go under the water....the rules have obviously changed a bit in the intervening years. Even so, there were so few of us competing that I came out as joint winner of the age group!!
