Gala Report: Munster Splash

Date: 18-19^th April 2025 Location: UL

April saw 14 Shark Swimmers diving down to Munster to participate in the eagerly anticipated Munster Splash gala. This gala was another chance to build up Connacht  and Summer National qualifying times for many swimmers, and Shark swimmers were focused on results. It is worth noting that the Banks brothers had their eyes on the prize when they saw light of those amazing medals on offer on Munsters Website and word quickly spread amongst their teammates.

Coach Daniel was on duty, with some help from Coach Simon also. Big thanks to our Officals and Team Mangers who kept the show on the road- Siobhan, Lorraine, Cassandra, John, Zane & Willie. 

Highlights of the Event

• 14 Shark Swimmers represented Black to Yellow squads
• 13 podium places, and well-deserved sparkling medals.

Swimmers' Performance

Some very strong swimming all around from our team. They all focused very hard on what their goals were, used the opportunity determinately to gain that vital experience in the Long Course arena, which for some of our younger swimmers is quite new to them.

Very hard earned medals returned back to Galway with the following swimmers:

Alise Fabricusa; 1^st 100 Back, 2^nd 200 Back , 3^rd 100 Free & 2^nd 200 Free.

Sam Devitt; 3^rd 50 Free & 3^rd 100 Fly.

Rory Banks; 1^st 200 Fly & 3^rd 400IM .

Killian Banks; 1^st 200IM, 1^st 400IM, 3^rd 100 Fly & 2^nd 50 Fly

Coach Daniel Madigan : 2^nd 200 Fly

Special mention to the following swimmers who all had 100% PB performance in all of their events: Mason Cunningham Flaherty (5) and Orlaith Dickson (1)

Coach Daniel: “Munster Splash was another exciting opportunity to secure  times for this year’s Connacht LC Championships and Summer Nationals and all our athletes had successes whether it was achieving times or winning some hard earned medals.”
