Team managers oversee our athletes poolside whilst they compete and also play a key part in supporting our intensive training camps.

No swimming knowledge is needed, just the ability to work with our athletes to ensure their safe keeping whilst poolside during competition sessions.
 
To train as a TM we follow the process outlined below:
 
 
BECOME AN HSC VOLUNTEER MEMBER

The Club covers your membership as based on the provision of a member volunteering twice within a year. Otherwise, the annual charge is £6.20 for 2025.
 
DBS CHECK
Once we set you up as a member, you will need to complete a DBS through the Club – Swim England will not accept DBS checks from other sources.
  • You will be sent a link to a short form to complete
  • A Member of the Club will meet you poolside to verify your documents
  • Usual docs given are passport / drivers license / bank statement or household bill.
 
TRAINING - Safeguarding in Aquatics Course via Institute of Swimming (IoS).
 
There is a charge for the course of £27 (as at March 2025). Please send booking confirmation through to your HSC contact for full reimbursement of expense.
 
 
There is no cost for this workshop.
 
UNIFORM
The Club provide you with an HSC branded poolside t-shirt.
 
VOLUNTEERING AT MEETS
If your athlete is attending an event our TM coordinator will email you asking for your availability to support poolside. Just let them know your availability.
 
SHADOWING
Initially the Coordinator will team you up with an experienced TM who will walk you through how to TM.
