The #BlueAndGoldArmy put in an outstanding performance at the Somerset ASA County Championships 2025, setting multiple new records and claiming a host of titles across both the able-bodied and para events. The Club placed third overall in the team standings, finishing behind Taunton Deane and Millfield.

 

Record Breaking Performances

The standout performer of the meet was Nancy Jubb*, who had an exceptional meet, setting a new British record in the S5 200m Individual Medley with a time of 3:47.61. Jubb also broke regional records in the S6 50m Freestyle, touching the wall in 37.40, and the S5 100m Freestyle (1:21.48) earning herself, in this event alone, an impressive 921 BDPs.

 

Another star for Team Bath AS was Natalie Webb, who set new Somerset ASA Para records in the S8 400m Freestyle (8:17.44) and 100m Freestyle (1:54.87). Teammate Sophie York also set a new record in the S6 100m Backstroke, touching the wall in 2:24.12.

 

County Champions and Standout Swims

In the able-bodied events, Rue Fowler demonstrated her sprint versatility, earning the Somerset ASA Senior County Double Champion 2025 title with gold medals in the 50m Backstroke and 50m Butterfly. She also delivered an impressive silver medal performance in the 200m Backstroke.

 

The Club also saw strong performances from its Somerset ASA Senior County Runners-Up, with Hugo Jones putting in a solid swim in the 800m Freestyle, and Oliver Saunders showcasing his sprinting strength with podium finishes in two key events:

Junior Stars Shine

There were standout performances from our Junior swimmers with five Somerset ASA Junior County Runner-Up titles claimed:

🥈 Jonah Delin (13yrs) – 200m Butterfly

Louis Clark (14yr), Ed Davey (17yr), Sam Dowding (15yr), and Martha Kelly (17yr), delivered strong and consistent performances across multiple strokes, securing podium finishes in butterfly, backstroke, and breaststroke, further highlighting their competitive strength and versatility.

 

Rising Talent

The Club’s younger swimmers (11-14yrs) showcased exceptional depth across age groups, excelling in both sprints and distance events. Callum Le Roux (11yr) secured gold in both the 50m and 100m Freestyle, and Jonah Delin (14yr) showcased his dominance in long-distance freestyle, securing five gold medals across multiple events, including gold in the 1500m Free.

 

Several swimmers from our Dragonfly hub at Midsomer Norton made their County Championships debut, overcoming nerves to deliver fantastic performances. Congratulations to Roman Witt (11yr) for winning bronze in the 100m Backstroke!

 

A Fantastic Championship for Team Bath AS

It was an incredibly successful meet for Team Bath AS, with swimmers setting numerous records and claiming a host of titles and medals across both the able-bodied and para events. The Club’s swimmers demonstrated their talent, dedication, and hard work, making a real mark at the Somerset ASA County Championships 2025.

 

Most importantly, their outstanding team spirit was on full display throughout the competition. A huge well done to everyone who qualified and competed!
