About Kay Willcox - Start Para Lead Coach
For over 18 years, Kay Willcox led Norton Radstock Swimming Club as Head Coach, nurturing swimmers and fostering their passion and skills. Transitioning in 2021 to Team Bath AS as Lead Coach, she brings her wealth of experience and UKCC Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Swimming and Teaching Aquatics.
Kay plays a crucial role in our swimming community, crafting training programs and drills for success in both sessions and meets. She also specialises in training para-swimmers, drawing from her Paralympic background.
Actively engaged in the Swim England South West Para-Disability Committee and serving on the Somerset ASA Committee as Para-Swimming and Disability Liaison Officer, Kay promotes inclusivity throughout the Club.
Kay's dedication to Para-Swimming is evident in her participation as both a coach and official in events ranging from local to global levels, including Swim England South West Para-Regionals, Para-Nationals, and international competitions like the European Masters Aquatics Championships, World Para-Athletics Championships, and the Invictus Games.
Additional courses completed include Coaching Para-Swimmers in a Mainstream Coaching Environment, Visually-Impaired Friendly Swimming, Foundations of Inclusivity, Teaching Swimming to Disabled Children, and An Introduction to Disability Swimming Awareness.

Here are the training dates for the period from July - December 2025. All sessions run from 1:30 to 2:30 pm.

In the future, we hope to host sessions that bring together Para-Swimmers from the wider South West region. We may also be able to provide additional sessions for para-swimmers from other local clubs (with the agreement of their Club coach).
We can also provide contact details to Team Bath Tribe Swim School for any parents or guardians of children who have no swimming experience or can swim less than 25m.

Success Stories
Team Bath Para-Swimming has a history of nurturing talent, including renowned athletes like Stephanie Millward MBE.
Stephanie Millward, a ten-time Paralympic medallist, has announced her retirement from competitive swimming after an illustrious career. Initially training at the University of Bath, her career was interrupted by a Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis, but she made a remarkable comeback, competing at four Paralympic Games. She won five medals at London 2012 and claimed two golds at Rio 2016, contributing to a total of 40 international medals.
Beyond swimming, Stephanie has received numerous honours, including an MBE a worked as an ambassador for multiple charities. She expressed gratitude to her husband, coaches, and supporters for enabling her success. British Para-Swimming Head Coach Rob Aubry praised her dedication and positive influence. As she retires, Millward leaves behind a legacy of resilience and achievement, inspiring future athletes in Paralympic sport.
