The South England South West (SESW) Region Summer Championships 2025 got underway on 26 April, running over three consecutive weekends at Millfield, Plymouth, and Hengrove. With 41 Team Bath AS swimmers qualifying for the meet, the club delivered a consistent and committed set of performances, collecting 23 individual medals across Age Group and Youth categories.

Millfield Weekend – Age Group Swimmers Off to a Great Start

The opening weekend at Millfield was focused on Age Group swimmers, where Jonah Delin (13yrs) led the charge. He claimed two gold medals with decisive wins in the 400m Individual Medley and the 1500m Freestyle, both with lifetime bests. 

Isaac Wheadon (13yrs) delivered a strong race to win silver in the 100m Freestyle.

Youth and Para Swimmers Compete in Plymouth

The second weekend took place at the Plymouth Life Centre, hosting Youth and Para swimmers from across the region. Team Bath AS swimmers performed well across a range of events and age groups.

Rue Fowler (18&O) led the medal count for the club, securing gold in both the 100m and 200m Backstroke, along with silvers in the 50m Backstroke, 50m Butterfly, and 100m Freestyle.

Nancy Jubb (S6, 17yrs) enjoyed a successful meet with six individual medals in Para events. She won gold in the 50m Butterfly (BDP 490) and earned silvers in the 50m Freestyle (BDP 667), 100m Freestyle (BDP 597), 200m Individual Medley (BDP 489), and bronze in the 100m Backstroke (BDP 546)—with all swims scoring high British Disability Points.

Sam Slee (16yrs) struck gold in the 50m Breaststroke, while Lydia Bulmer (16yrs) achieved silver in the 50m Butterfly. Additional bronze medals in the 18 & Over category were earned by Hugo Jones in the 400m Freestyle, Harry Morgan-Hughes in the 100m Butterfly, and Poppy Williams in the 200m Breaststroke.

While at Plymouth, Sam Dowding (15yrs) broke the '14 and under' 100m Backstroke Club long course Club record with a time of 1:01.81 breaking the previous record set in 2018.

Hengrove Weekend – Age Group Action Concludes the Championships

The final weekend at Hengrove Leisure Centre saw Age Group swimmers return to the pool. Jonah Delin’s silver in the 200m Butterfly led the medal charge, joined by Annabelle Godson (14yrs) who took silver in the 50m Butterfly, while Louis Clark (14yrs) added to the tally with bronze in the 50m Backstroke. Freddie Dowding (12yrs) also made the podium with bronze in the 50m Breaststroke. On the last day of the Championships, Hugo Jones (18&O) secured silver in the 800m Freestyle to wrap up the Championships in style for the Club.

Looking Ahead

In total, Team Bath AS swimmers collected 22 individual medals: 6 gold, 11 silver, and 6 bronze—an impressive return across a broad range of events and classifications.

All swimmers who competed at the Swim England South West Region Summer Championships 2025 should be proud of their efforts. Qualifying for this level of competition—and reaching finals to place among the top eight /ten in the South West—is a commendable achievement.
